Lauren Wash is a psychotherapist specializing in eating and weight concerns among individuals of color, and joined the team in May 2016. Her clinical focuses were inspired by her undergraduate seminar project entitled "How I (Almost) Lost My Black Girl Card: Understanding Body Image among Black Women", which explored the influence of race on body image, weight concerns, hair politics, and eating disorders, earning her departmental distinction. Years later with Aurora, Lauren presented similar research at a national conference further exploring the impact of race on eating disorder perceptions among people of color.

Lauren received her master's in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University, and completed post-graduate training in the integrative treatment of eating disorders at the Center for the Study of Anorexia & Bulimia where she also works as a part-time clinician. Lauren has had extensive training in psychodynamic, CBT, and DBT treatments for eating disorders and offers individual, group, and meal support therapies for patients at Aurora.

Outside of Aurora, Lauren works full-time in clinical research with military veterans. Lauren's research team focuses on developing therapeutic interventions for non-responders to various existing treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, anxiety, and dementia caregiver burden.
